Post-auction

Chopper guards his bone

Well our instincts were correct, and the property sold for more then our "investor" wanted to pay. So, we will now guard what we have and start making plans to journey to warmer climates. Our house search will continue along the way, and depending on what happens may resume in Spring when we come back to the boat. A big exhale here  and a gosh darn too bad at the same time.

Your going to warmer weather without the boat ???

I thought that was why you put all that work into it.

Well, everything happens for a reason. You should come to Texas, we have cheap houses everywhere.

Yeah I know Bill it seems weird but its true. When we got the boat we had actually never sailed before, but had always wanted to live on a boat, so... well you know the rest. Our actual goal has been to live aboard and try and see what sailing is like. We have a slip thats paid for the rest of the year, and since we haven't gotten much experience this year sailing, well we just don't want to do it that way. So yes, it will be a road trip!

Jomomma, we totally agree, and we will be scoping the rest of the country to see what the market is like there. Other then the boat there is little keeping us here, and it moves!

The Texas coast is nice the closer you get to Mexico, but you have to deal with the whole Spring Break crowd and it can be brutal. The Eastern half of the coast gets the sludge that washes out of the Mississippi and settles on the beaches. Neither the water or the beaches are very pristine. We do have the ICW spanning the entire coastline from Orange to Brownsville.

We've driven thru Texas before, but always breezed thru. We'll probably be following the coast line this time looking for places to camp. If T had it his way we'd skip Texas altogether. He's had some terrible ebay experiences always with Texans. He did say he won't hold the Texas thing against you though...

Thank goodness, I don't do Ebay.

I don't shop, and auctions are like gambling, they scare me.

I can dig that, but I have crossed over to the dark side.I don't think I've ever spent more then I wanted to, but I have gotten some excellent deals
