You can see the original bulkhead (wall) material peeking from beneath the cedar we chose for the walls, countertops and cabinets. White vinyl with mahogany trim finished the overhead (ceiling) |
We now call this Billy's Laundry Room |
Also finished is Chopper's Facebook page. As our official spokesman he officially invites you to be friends. Woof!

VERY nice! Just icing on the cake. There was a time when I would have required at least a washer with me at all times, since laundry is one or my hobbies. But since taking up knitting, I tend to look for things like laundry that require a guard with sharp sticks. I'm sure you are going to enjoy the time it gives back to you.
You are going to want to take that with youuuuuu.....
Hey Meerkat, I'm experiencing separation anxiety already!
Jomamma, who in the world has the hobby of doing laundry? Was this before or after you came in from the race track?
Nice job! Love the cedar. Enjoy the convenience while you can!
I used to do so much laundry that I decided to think of it as a hobby so it wouldn't be so bad. I really took pride in my laundry, my whites were so white that when I'd hang diapers (yeah real diapers) on the line, they would blind truck drivers when they came over the hill. But now I have knitting, and no more diapers.
So what was your secret to getting the whites so white?
So what was your secret to getting the whites so white?
And second the no diapers!
My secret... bleach. Good old 98cents a gallon bleach. When it says on the bottle 1 cup to 1 washer load... use a full cup. Soft water helps too. Never did the Pampers, even when pregnant with Jolea and hubby and I contemplated living on a boat on a lake in Oklahoma. I couldn't imagine keeping all the dirty Pampers on the boat until we hauled the trash into the marina. I'd rather wash 4 or 5 by hand in the sink on a rub board and hang them to dry. I still have my rub board just in case I end up on a boat.
Its good to be prepared, just in case. I've scouted an old washboard in T's parents house that will probably go with us to Me Voy. That's something I think about, how soon, we will trade all the convieniences of this huge motor boat, for just the bare necessitites inside a much smaller sailboat. Voluntary simplicity. It wouldn't be so voluntary in the cold, a warm climate is key to this plan working. And J, just in case you're interested, you could do all the laundry you wanted aboard TARA... I know I know, hubby's vertigo... just that you would make such a nice boater.
Thanks for the vote of confidence, I could handle the rocking too and fro of sitting tied to the dock. I don't know about that part with the 8 foot swells or waves crashing. Remember I don't like to get my hair wet and I only like water where I can see the drain.
